A classic Island dram, Talisker is a benchmark malt for many single malt whisky fans, whose reputation is validated by the numerous awards it has won. Fresh and fragrant on the nose at first, soon the intense, thick smoke wades in, followed by some stewed orchard fruit and sea spray. Big and intense on the palate, the peat smoke is prominent, with a vivfying touch of brine and then the stewed pear and apples flavours coming back around. It finishes long, with toasted malt and smoke riding it out.
